Help & FAQs
Answers for every part of Kinrafter.
Getting started
What is Kinrafter?
Kinrafter keeps your family’s important documents, renewal dates and reminders in one private place: IDs, vehicle papers, insurance, health records, warranties and more.
Your documents are encrypted on your phone before they are saved online, so nobody else can read them, including us.
Do I need to sign in to use the app?
No. You can start without an account. Your documents then stay only on this phone (up to 5 documents). If you lose the phone or uninstall the app, they are gone.
Sign in to keep your account, and upgrade to Pro to save your documents online, share them with family and use them on another phone.
What is the difference between no login, Free and Pro?
No login: up to 5 documents on this phone. Reminders work on the phone. No online copy, no sharing.
Free (signed in): the same 5 documents on this phone, kept separate for your account. Signing in alone does not upload anything.
Pro: up to 100 documents saved online and encrypted, up to 4 people (you and 3 family members), family sharing, and your documents on any phone where you sign in.
How many documents can I save?
Without Pro: 5 documents. With Pro: 100 documents.
Archived documents count towards the limit until you delete them permanently. If you are at the limit you can still edit documents, but you cannot add new ones.
Each attached file can be up to 10 MB.
How many family members can I add?
Up to 4 people in total: you and 3 family members. Children are added as family profiles too.
What file types can I attach?
Photos (JPG, PNG), PDF, Word (.docx) and Excel (.xlsx), each up to 10 MB. Files with macros or embedded objects are not accepted. Word and Excel files open in your phone’s own Word or Excel app.
Is my data private?
Yes. Your records and files are encrypted on your phone with a key only you control. The online copy is encrypted, so we cannot read your documents. That is why your Recovery Code matters: without a working recovery method, nobody can recover your documents.
Documents
How do I add a document?
1. Tap Add at the bottom of the screen.
2. Pick the document type (for example Passport, Aadhaar, Vehicle insurance) or Other.
3. Attach a file if you want: Scan document, Take Photo, Choose Photo, or Choose File for a PDF, Word or Excel file.
4. Check the name and number, and add the issue and expiry dates.
5. Under Document belongs to, choose the person, then tap Save document.
How do I scan a document or add both sides?
In the Add screen tap Scan document. The phone’s scanner crops the pages for you. Several pages become one PDF, up to 20 pages, and a single page becomes a photo.
For cards such as Aadhaar or Driving licence, add the front first, then the back.
Photos you pick from the gallery or take with the camera are shrunk automatically so they save faster.
How do I attach or replace a file?
Open the document, tap Edit details, then use Choose File, Choose Photo or Scan document to pick another file. Your earlier file stays in Document history, and you can open it from there.
Why is saving slow?
Saving an online document encrypts the file, uploads it and then saves your vault, so it takes a few seconds on a normal connection. The Save button shows what it is doing. A weak connection makes it slower.
How do I edit a document?
Open Documents, tap the document, then tap Edit details. Change what you need and tap Save document.
If a document has an expiry date, it shows in the edit screen even for types that normally have none.
How do I find a document?
Use the search box on the Documents screen or the search icon on Home. You can search by name, document number or person. Numbers match with or without spaces and dashes. Tap a category to filter the list, for example Identity, Travel, Vehicle, Insurance, Health, Finance, Property & Home, Work & Education, Warranty, Memberships, Subscriptions, Legal, Pets or Other.
How do I open, download or share the file?
Open the document and tap Open file to view it, Download to save a copy, or Share to send it with another app. Anything you download or send leaves Kinrafter’s protection, so share carefully.
How do I archive a document?
Open the document, tap Sharing & more, then Archive. An archived document is hidden from your list and its reminders stop. It still counts towards your limit.
To see archived documents, open Documents and choose the Archived filter.
How do I restore an archived document?
Choose the Archived filter in Documents, open the document and tap Restore document. Its reminders start again.
How do I delete a document permanently?
Only archived documents can be deleted. Archive the document first, then open it from the Archived filter and tap Delete permanently. Confirm when asked.
This frees the space, removes the file and stops sharing it with anyone. It cannot be undone. Copies someone has already downloaded or sent on are not removed.
How do I move a document to another family member?
Open the document, tap Edit details and change Document belongs to. Save to finish.
Can I use Kinrafter on another phone?
With Pro, yes. Sign in on the new phone. The app then helps you unlock your documents with your Recovery Code, with cards from your trusted people, or with your old phone.
Reminders
How do I get a reminder for a document that expires?
When you add or edit the document, enter the expiry date and keep “Remind me before this document expires” turned on. Then choose how early: 30 days, 3 months, 6 months or 1 year before. The default is 30 days.
The reminder is created for you and shows in Reminders.
How do I add my own reminder?
1. Open Reminders and tap the + button (or open a document and tap Add reminder).
2. Enter a title and notes, such as a loan EMI or school fee.
3. Choose the person, an optional linked document and the due date.
4. Choose the priority: Normal, Important or Urgent.
5. Choose how it repeats: None, Once, Every day or Every week, then save.
What does Urgent mean?
A reminder shows as Urgent when its priority is Urgent or when it is due within 7 days. Overdue reminders show how many days late they are.
How do I complete a reminder?
Open Reminders and tap Complete on the reminder. It moves to the Completed tab and stops sending alerts.
How do I snooze a reminder?
Tap Snooze 7 days. The due date moves a week ahead.
How do I reopen a completed reminder?
Open the Completed tab in Reminders and tap Reopen reminder. It returns to your open list.
How do I edit or reassign a reminder?
Tap Edit / Reassign on the reminder. Change the title, notes, date, priority or person, and save.
If I change a document’s expiry date, do my reminders update?
Yes. The reminder created from the expiry date moves to the new date. If you change the “remind me before” choice, the same reminder is rescheduled and no extra one is added.
How do I search my reminders?
Use the Search reminders box at the top of Reminders. It looks in the title, notes, person and linked document.
How do I turn on notifications?
1. Open Profile, then Notifications.
2. Tap Turn on notifications and allow them when your phone asks.
3. Tap Test alert (15 seconds), go to your phone’s Home screen and wait. A notification should arrive.
If notifications are blocked, tap Open Kinrafter settings and allow them there.
When will I be reminded?
Alerts arrive at 9 AM on the reminder date and on the due date. For documents with an expiry date, the advance reminder uses the lead time you chose: 30 days, 3 months, 6 months or 1 year before.
Completed reminders and archived documents send no alerts.
Why am I not getting reminders?
Check that the document has an expiry date and the reminder option is on, that Notifications are turned on in Kinrafter, and that your phone allows them. Battery saver and Do Not Disturb can delay alerts.
The phone keeps the nearest 50 alerts ready, so open Kinrafter now and then. Tap Refresh reminders in Notifications to rebuild them.
Do alerts show my document names?
No. Alerts are generic so nothing private appears on your lock screen. Opening an alert asks you to unlock Kinrafter first.
Can I see all upcoming dates together?
Yes. Open Profile, then Family timeline to see upcoming dates in order. Missed due dates appear under Today.
Can I share a reminder with my family?
With Pro, tap Share with family on a reminder and choose the people. They see it read-only under Documents, Shared with me. Sharing again updates their copy, and completing the reminder removes it from their phones. They cannot complete it for you.
Family members
How do I add a family member?
Open Profile, tap Manage family, then Add family profile. Enter the name and relationship, add a date of birth and photo if you like, and save. You can have 4 people in total, including you.
How do I edit a family member?
Open Family, tap View profile on the person, then Edit family member. Change the name, date of birth or photo and save.
How do I delete a family member?
Open their profile and scroll to Delete family member. If they have documents or reminders, tap “Move records to me and delete”: their documents and reminders (archived ones too) move to you first, then the profile is removed. This cannot be undone.
Your own profile cannot be deleted.
Why can’t I add another person?
The limit is 4 people: you and 3 family members. Delete a profile you no longer need to make room.
How do I add or change a profile photo?
Open the profile, tap Edit family member, then choose Take photo or Choose photo. Tap Remove photo to go back to the initial.
Family sharing
What is family sharing?
With Pro you can give up to 3 people read-only copies of the documents you choose. They see only what you share, can open or save the files, and cannot edit, archive or delete your originals. They do not need Pro to view what you share.
How do I send an invitation?
1. Make sure the person has a family profile (Manage family, Add family profile).
2. Open Profile, Manage family, then Family sharing.
3. Under Invite a family member, choose the person and enter the email they sign in with.
4. Tap Create private invitation, then Send invitation. Send the invitation file to them privately, for example by WhatsApp.
The invitation expires in 7 days. If it expires, tap Send invitation again.
How do I invite a child?
Choose the child’s profile and tick the approval that confirms you allow read-only access for them. The child signs in with their own verified email and Recovery Code, and counts as one of your 3 sharing places.
How do I accept an invitation?
1. Sign in to Kinrafter with the email the invitation was sent to, and save your own Recovery Code.
2. Open Profile, Manage family, then Family sharing.
3. Under Accept an invitation, tap Choose invitation file and pick the file you received.
4. Tap Accept family access.
Nothing is shared until the owner chooses documents.
How do I share a document with family?
Open Family sharing, find the person and tap Choose documents to share, then tap Share on each document. You can also open a document and tap Share with family.
How do I share many documents at once?
Open Family sharing and tap Share multiple documents with family. Choose up to 3 people and up to 100 documents, check the number of copies and confirm. If it stops part-way, the finished copies are kept and you can retry the rest.
How do I stop sharing one document?
Open Family sharing, find the person, tap Choose documents to share and tap Stop sharing this document. Only that one copy is removed. Repeat for each person you shared it with.
If they already downloaded or saved the file, that copy stays on their phone.
How do I remove someone’s access completely?
Open Family sharing and tap Remove family access next to the person. All their shared copies disappear. To share again later you need to send a new invitation.
I edited a document after sharing. Is their copy updated?
No. Your edits stay private until you share the document again. Tap Share on it in the person’s shared list to replace their copy with the updated one.
Where do shared documents appear for the other person?
Open Documents and choose Shared with me. Documents and reminders shared with them are listed there. Tap Refresh to check for changes. Viewing needs an internet connection.
How can the person I shared with get a reminder?
On a shared document that has an expiry date they can tap Remind me. That reminder is theirs and stops if the owner stops sharing.
How do I leave a family share?
Open Family sharing, find the share under Shared with me and tap Leave this family share. The owner’s documents disappear from your list.
How many documents and people can I share?
Up to 3 invited people, and up to 100 shared items for each person (documents and reminders together). The person you share with does not use their own 5 or 100 document allowance.
Recovery and security
What is a Recovery Code?
It is a long code that unlocks your protected documents when your phone’s saved access is unavailable, for example on a new phone. Your password only signs you in. The Recovery Code opens your documents. We cannot see or reset it.
How do I save my Recovery Code?
When you create your account the app shows the code. Tap Save Recovery Code to save it as a text file, or Print it or save a PDF. Keep a copy outside this phone, such as printed paper in a safe place or a private cloud folder, and re-enter it when asked to confirm.
Open Security, then Emergency Recovery any time to show it again or to confirm your saved copy with its last 8 characters.
How do I protect my Recovery Code?
Never share it in a chat or post it online. Anyone with the code and your login can open your documents. Store a printed copy somewhere safe, and keep a second copy with a person you trust. Do not keep the only copy on the same phone.
What are trusted people?
You can create 3 recovery cards and give one to each trusted person, such as a spouse, a sibling or a safe. Any 2 of the 3 cards together can unlock your documents. One card alone cannot. This protects you if you lose your Recovery Code.
Open Security, Emergency Recovery, enter the 3 people, then tap Create 3 cards. Save or print them, and tap Done when all 3 are given out.
How do I move to a new phone?
Sign in on the new phone. If it cannot unlock by itself, choose one of these:
• Enter your Recovery Code, or choose your saved Recovery Code file.
• Use my old phone instead: create a request on the new phone, send it to the old phone, then open Security, Emergency Recovery there and approve it. The request expires in 15 minutes.
• Use cards from my trusted people: add 2 of the 3 cards.
I lost my Recovery Code and my phone. What now?
Try your trusted people’s cards first, or an old phone that is still unlocked.
If nothing works, nobody can recover the old documents. As a last choice, tap “Lost your Recovery Code? Start again” on the recovery screen. It permanently deletes your old online documents and sharing, keeps your account and plan, and lets you start fresh with a new code. You confirm with an email code.
How do I turn on App lock?
Open Profile, Security & privacy, then tap Turn on App lock. Kinrafter then asks for your fingerprint, face unlock or phone PIN when you open it. Tap Lock now to lock the app straight away.
Can I block screenshots?
Yes. In Security & privacy tap Block screenshots. Tap Allow screenshots to turn it off.
Sign-in and account
How do I create an account or sign in?
Open Profile and tap Sign in or create an account. Use your email and a password, or continue with Google. New accounts then save a Recovery Code.
I forgot my password.
On the sign-in screen tap Forgot password?, enter your email and follow the code we send. If you connected Google, you can also sign in with Google.
How do I manage my sign-in methods?
Open Profile, Security & privacy, then Manage sign-in methods. You can add a password to an account you opened with Google, or connect Google to an account you opened with a password. Both open the same account and documents.
How do I turn on an extra sign-in code?
In Security & privacy, tap Set up authenticator and follow the steps with an authenticator app. Then tap Create backup codes and save them somewhere safe. Test it by signing out and in again.
How do I see where I am signed in, or sign out everywhere?
In Security & privacy tap Show devices to see your signed-in devices. Tap Sign out everywhere to end all sessions. Use this if you lose a phone.
How do I sign out?
Open Profile and tap Sign out. Your documents on the phone stay in your account’s protected storage.
Where do I see my plan?
Open Profile. The plan card shows your plan, how many documents and family profiles you have used, and a PRO badge if you are on Pro. Tap Plans for more.
What changes when I upgrade to Pro?
If you have documents on the phone, the app offers to move them to your account. Your phone documents are copied, and the originals stay on the phone.
Export, import and moving data
How do I export my data?
Open Profile, Export & import, then tap Export my online documents (in the phone app, signed in). Save every numbered ZIP part. They contain your documents, records, archived items and history.
The ZIP files are not encrypted, so keep them private.
How do I import a backup?
Open Export & import, tap Choose backup files and select all parts of the same backup. Check the counts, then tap Restore to my account (Pro) or Restore to this phone. Only Kinrafter exports can be imported.
After restoring, tap Finish uploading my restored backup to save the documents online.
How do I upload the documents from this phone to my account?
After you upgrade to Pro, tap Upload documents from this phone on Home or Profile. Review what will be uploaded, then confirm. The documents are encrypted before upload and the originals stay on the phone. If it is interrupted, open it again and continue.
Make sure it will fit your limits first: up to 100 documents and 4 people.
Why does the upload say I would exceed the people limit?
Your account allows 4 people. The upload adds the family profiles on the phone to the ones already online. Delete profiles you do not need, then try again.
Does exporting delete anything or cancel my plan?
No. Exporting only makes a copy. It does not delete your data or cancel your subscription.
Delete my account
How do I delete my account permanently?
1. Export your documents first if you want a copy (Export & import).
2. Open Profile, Export & import, and scroll to Delete account.
3. Sign in again if asked. Type DELETE to confirm.
4. Tap Submit deletion request.
Your online documents, files, sharing and sign-in are then erased. Tap Check deletion status to follow it, or Cancel deletion request if you change your mind before it runs.
Does deleting my account cancel my subscription?
Not automatically. Cancel your plan in the store you paid through. Documents saved only on this phone are not removed by deleting the online account; clear the app’s data or uninstall to remove them.
Help with problems
I see “Couldn’t connect”.
Check your internet connection and try again. The app tries again by itself for short drops. Your original data is not changed when an upload or save fails.
It says I reached my document limit.
Free allows 5 documents and Pro allows 100, archived ones included. Delete archived documents permanently to free space, or upgrade.
A file will not attach.
The app tells you if a file is over the 10 MB limit and shows its size. Choose a smaller file, or shrink the PDF first. Use a JPG, PNG, PDF, Word or Excel file up to 10 MB. Files with macros or embedded objects are refused. Old .doc and .xls files and password-protected files are not supported.
Can I search my records without internet?
Yes. Family Assistant searches your saved records on the phone. It does not use AI and your questions stay on the phone.
How do I contact support?
Write to the support address shown on our website. Never send your Recovery Code or password to anyone, including support.
No matches. Try fewer or different words.
